Karia is a picturesque village 13 km southwest of the town of Lefkada, lost in the lush mountains. In the surrounding area you can go on beautiful hikes through the forest and rivers. In Karia, the traditional stone houses have withstood the earthquakes and time seems to stand still, especially in the village square, in the shade of the plane trees. The speciality of the village is embroidery and tapestry. You can see some of the works in the folklore museum (open from 9am to 9pm in high season) which invites you inside a traditional 19th century house.
