30 km south of Innsbruck, at the start of the Gschnitztal (Wipptal side valley), Trins is a very authentic village, one of the sunniest in the region. Popular with botanists for the variety of its alpine flora - the Blaser massif is reputed to be the most flowery in the Alps! -it is also popular with walkers and mountain bikers. Trins and Gschnitz were also the location for James Clavell's film The Lost Valley (1971), starring Michael Caine and Omar Sharif. The village grew with the mining industry and later with agriculture. There's plenty of hiking to be done in the immediate vicinity.
