263 inhabitants. In the extreme west of the county of Bages, the small municipality of Aguilar de Segarra - which gathers around its nucleus the villages of Les Coromines and Castellar - lives mainly from cattle breeding and the cultivation of wheat, potatoes and almonds. There are some old farmsteads flanked by small churches or chapels of Romanesque and Gothic origin, as well as the remains of a medieval castle built on a hill and devoured by vegetation. Every second Sunday of the month, guided tours are offered on this site steeped in history. From a geological point of view, the village was built entirely on rocks dating back to the Oligocene, the second period of the Tertiary Age, in which traces can be observed of the lakes and rivers that had gradually replaced the sea that occupied these lands 36 million years ago.
