More than 30 km west of Peralada and 29 km from Figueres, Albanyà is located in the northwest of the Haut Empordà region, in the Muga valley. Situated at an altitude of 239 m, the village's architectural heritage is well worth a visit, with its 12th-century gateway to the ramparts and the Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre d'Albanyà. It also boasts a magnificent rural setting, making it an ideal place for hiking. For example, you can climb up to the Romanesque sanctuary of Mare de Déu del Mont, from where you can enjoy magnificent views over the Empordà, La Garrotxa and the Canigou massif.
