Continuing north-eastwards, you can plan a stopover at La Vajol, a small village of less than 100 inhabitants nestled at 546 meters and sharing a border with France. Its location made it a crossing point for opponents of General Franco, including Juan Negrín, head of government, and Diego Martínez Barrio, president of the Cortes, who crossed the Lli Pass on February 5, 1939, followed by Lluís Companys, president of the Generalitat de Catalunya and José Antonio Aguirre, president of the autonomous government of the Basque Country. On the outskirts of the village, a site is dedicated to the exiles, with two statues of two refugees.
