Some informed tourists will surely tell you about Piedras Blancas National Park which attracts, since the tightening of the regulations at Corcovado, those allergic to hiking. Of all the national parks in Costa Rica, Piedras Blancas is one of the least visited because it is far from the classic tourist circuits. If you are a fan of off-roading, Piedras Blancas National Park will undoubtedly make you happy. The park is originally a section of the national park of Corcovado, the Esquinas sector. You can discover it along the trails of the lodge Las Esquinas, on the dirt road that leads from Route 2 to Golfito or along the beautiful trail El Valle Bonito. The access is not easy (even impossible during some months of the year) and the paths are not well marked. The park is a true refuge for fauna and flora, established on impressive coastal cliffs, and is crossed by two rivers that flow into the Golfo Dulce. More than 100 rivers flow through the river plateau, making Piedras Blancas dotted with multiple waterfalls. The portion of tropical rainforest of the plain is the preferred habitat of the jaguar. Still it is necessary to be able to reach it... We advise you not to enter the park without a guide. Some days, the guides do not even leave because you will have to cross streams and, in rainy weather, it is sometimes impossible to do so.
