Seventeen kilometers off the coast of Bahía Drake is Isla del Caño, with approximately 330 hectares of greenery and over 2,700 hectares of ocean. Access to the island is limited in order to preserve its natural beauty, as most of the exploration of Isla del Caño takes place in the ocean anyway! The water is much clearer than along the coastline and its temperature is close to body temperature. Isla del Caño is a diver's paradise where you can spend hours frolicking among the fishes near the underwater rocks and some coral reefs where many varieties of plants - including the impressive sea cucumber - and tropical fishes live. The place is recognized as one of the best in the country for its seabed. The location of the island, near the coast, allows the development of a mixed vegetation specific to this climate tempered by sea breezes (rubber, fig trees, etc.). On the island there are few animal species due to its small size, but some interesting plant species such as the rubber tree and the milk tree. Off the island, it is not unusual to see dolphins and whales The access is through a hotel or a boat rental company in Bahía Drake (17 kilometers, 45 minutes of sometimes sportive navigation), see with the hotels of Bahía Drake. It can be reached from Sierpe (55 kilometers) or even from the Marino Ballena National Park, further north
