The Ferrarese coastline has seven lidi (lidos) and the Lido di Volano, with its large pine forest, offers the best preserved natural setting. It is also the northernmost town on the Comacchio coastline. Lido di Volano takes its name from a branch of the Po river. Its proximity to the delta makes it particularly beautiful. The beaches look out over the large Po delta and the Sacca di Goro. Today, this unspoilt lido has a tourist port near the bridge over the Volano. Due to its somewhat isolated position, exposed to the wind and sea currents, the Lido of Volano is the reference centre for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
