A small town 50 km from Bologna on the Apennines, originally called Grizzana but later, in homage to one of its inhabitants, the painter Giorgio Morandi, it was renamed Grizzana Morandi. A place of inspiration for the artist, "the most beautiful landscape in the world" as he defined it. Today it is home to the Casa Museo Giorgio Morandi e Museo degli Allievi di Morandi. A territory dotted with small medieval villages such as La Scola, or architectural works such as the church of S. Maria Assunta, the only Italian work by Alvar Aalto, not forgetting the marvellous Rocchetta Mattei, which seems to have come out of a fairy tale.
