Byera is a historic village on the island of Saint-Vincent, and one of the most densely populated too. This is because, during the colonial period, the village served as a frontier between the local Indians and the white planters of Charlotte parish, of which it is a part. It was then settled by free slaves after their emancipation, while many older residents emigrated from Barbados and Trinidad. The region boasts some of the world's most beautiful black sand beaches. Also not to be missed is a visit to the atypical Black Point Tunnel.
