Located on the west coast of the island of Saint Vincent, Layou is a small fishing village that borders the village of Buccament, located a stone's throw from Barrouallie. People come here to admire the Caribbean petroglyphs, dating back to the 18th century. This historical site is one of the most visited of the island. It is located in an idyllic setting within the tropical forest and along a small river. One can imagine the Caribbean Indians living there several centuries ago and creating this ancient art. The small adjoining museum also shows other petroglyphs on the island. The visit is really worth the detour, it is for everyone, young and old.
