This small island of 1,000 inhabitants takes its name from a variety of sea turtle: the canouan turtle. The island proudly displays its 5.6 km length and 2 km width. Charlestown, located in Grand Bay, one of the largest bays on the west side, is where most of the island's activities are concentrated. To the north, Mount Royal rises to 270 m. The beautiful white-sand bays of Carenage Bay, Frienship Bay and Glossy Bay are well worth a visit, and are home to a number of luxury resorts.
