Located south of St. Vincent, this peaceful island is the largest of the Grenadine Islands. Bequia's inhabitants have long been sea-faring, and together they perpetuate ancestral traditions such as whaling, sailboat building and fishing. In fact, in the 19th century, during the time of Moby Dick, Bequia was one of the best-known whaling resorts, particularly popular with Scottish and French hunters. Port Elizabeth, a quaint little port, is packed with bars, restaurants and souvenir stores.
