Perched at about 500 meters above sea level, Mirto is one of the gateways to the Nebrodi Park. Here, as in Capri Leone, you can breathe, eat and drink like a real Sicilian with... sicilians. Mirto? The village takes its name from the fragrant Myrtle that grows in the mountain. In August, the Myrtle festival is held, combining local and traditional music and gastronomy. If you have time, explore further up the mountain in the village of Fragalà. You can visit a beautiful old monastery of San Filippo which offers an incredible view. It is open Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
