Monte Verde is a World Heritage Site. Discovered in 1976, notably by Professor Tom Dillehay, it revealed the presence of human beings some 15,000 years ago. Research has uncovered spears, mortars, animal skins, edible seeds, berries, stems, mushrooms... and even potatoes. Most astonishing of all, however, are the human footprints preserved in clay. Radiocarbon 14 analysis proves that the hearth dates back at least 33,000 or 35,000 years, which would totally call into question the settlement of the Americas!
