North of Gualacá, Valle Hornito is almost at the highest point of the road that connects the Pan-American Highway to the Atlantic coast, through the two provinces of Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro. It is a beautiful winding road that goes up, often in the mist in the afternoon, and passes by the hydroelectric dam of La Fortuna. Valle Hornito is a place with a few pleasant inns that offer a variety of activities in the mountains of the forest reserve, also known as La Fortuna.
