This island was first observed in October 1502 by Christopher Columbus who gave it the name of El Escudo. It was later visited by Francis Drake, and now it's your turn to explore this fascinating territory that is one of the jewels of Panama and Central America. With a surface area of only 4 km² within the Ngäbe County, it is surrounded by mangroves, beaches and rocks and covered by an abundance of lush vegetation. The months of September, April and May offer the best sailing conditions to get there. Contact local agencies, including Kawi Voyage, to organize your trip.
