La Libertad and Santo Domingo are the villages of miners, gold researchers and breeders. From Juigalpa you have to leave the tar for a land road that crosses, full east, the dry plain of Juigalpa before climbing the Cordillera of Amerrisque by the north. There is hardly any tourist infrastructure from this moment, apart from a few village bars-bars and the "agro-aspoprodecaz" of the Finca Las Brumas.Under the impetus of government projects, private deer reserves have developed throughout the territory. The first one in the Department of Chontales is the Scots living reserve Las Brumas, located 1 km from Santo Domingo. The agro-aspoprodecaz Las Brumas is a small coffee producer who dedicated its plantation and the surrounding forest remains to conservation of nature. So you can walk through the coffee plantation, discover the traditional roasting process, and the fauna and flora: observation of birds of multicolores forest, small red frogs and, with some luck, a lazy paresseux (rare species) as well as all kinds of insects and butterflies.
