8 km southwest of Furnes. In Dutch, moer means «swamp» or «swamp». This name was déformé distorted by moëres across the other side of the linguistic border. Over this long-flooded area, polder (artificial soil) was created in the th century under the reign of Archduke Albert and his wife Isabelle, who wanted to raise the economy of the Spanish countries ruined by the civil war. It was their invaluable engineer and architect, Wenceslas Coebergher, who led the drying work of this immense area of coastal marshes. A series of windmills, whose function was to relentlessly pump water drained through the ditches, parsemaient the territory. There is only one, the Sint-Karelsmolen (mill Saint-Charles), which valiantly continues its work, to the east of the hamlet of De. To see the mill, turn right in the hamlet, then left. It is easy to mention.
