On the heights of Namur, where the land escapes to the Hesbaye plateau, the commune of La Bruyère is essentially agricultural and rural. Meux, Saint-Denis and Warisoulx have almost more livestock than inhabitants. However, La Bruyère is crossed by major regional roads: the E42, E411 and N4. In Rhisnes, at the crossroads of Wallonia's two most important freeways, lies a major industrial and craft zone. In Emines and Bovesse, two of Wallonia's largest and oldest vineyards (Domaine du Chenoy and Domaine du Ry d'Argent) make the commune famous.
