In this valley duet, the heritage is placed under the sign of nature. If the two rivers (the Burdinale and the Mehaigne) are known mainly for nature lovers (and hunting), the surrounding natural park deserves a detour. Especially if you are a fan of walks. All the more so as the region is rich and bears more poetic names than the others: the Promenade des Châteaux which leaves the village of Couthuin, the Source promenade which will delight lovers of unusual vegetation, the Pont du Soleil promenade, a must to discover the traditional stone houses of Vinalmont, the Deer Parkway which leads the walkers through wood in the direction of Fumal Castle, the Promenade of the Marais and many others… Some also have the Stone Parkway name, and the Earth Walk to Water. These 3 elements are precisely the essence of the tourism offer in this region: stone (the Bords edges with rocky Outcrops), Water (the wet valleys of Burdinale and Mehaigne) and the Earth (the fertile agricultural plateau of Hesbaye). It is precisely this quality of biodiversity and of landscapes that make this region what it is: This is an enchanting but enchanting destination for the one who puts himself in the head (and in the legs). The valleys of Lower Mehaigne and Burdinale fly heavily into the hesbignon plateau, resulting in a landscape contrast of the greatest interest (dry, wet and swampy meadows, wooded slopes, rocky outcrop, groves, tadpoles willow, orchards and hollow paths), responsible for a wide diversity of flora and fauna (saxifrage pellets, butternut, etc.). Add to this castles, farms, churches, mills and local specialities: Bierwart grey, Heron squash, Beurre butter, fruit wine…WAREMMEThis part of the Hesbaye - which a marked road rightly describes as unusual - is essentially characterised by two types of landscapes. To Moha-Huccorgne, wet and harvested valleys are covered with wood and meadows. To Burdinne and Braives, we are still in the extension of the hesbignons plateaus. The silty and dry soil is one of the most fertile in the world. This agricultural land is the "granary" of Wallonia and even Belgium. By walking through these empty paths and consolidation, it's only fields for lost sight! These vast, wavy plains are of a relaxing and changing beauty, each season bringing its colours. In the surrounding areaThe region was coveted by the largest, and also houses numerous castles and private homes such as the castle of Moha (feudal time), the castles of Famelette, Fumal and Fallais. Traditionally, the houses groupaient around churches in the hesbignonnes plains, as in Burdinne and on the sunny slopes of the valleys of Mehaigne. Not to mention the water mills that would take place over the small rivers, such as the Moulin de Hosdent (the current house of Mehaigne and the Rural Environment - www.mmer.be) and the Mill of Ferrières still active to grind cereal crops.
