In the heart of the province of Hainaut, Soignies has both urban and rural sides. Created around the abbey (VIIth) founded by Vincent (born Madelgaire), the city saw the birth of Jules Bordet, Nobel Prize of medicine in 1870. You will find a remarkable Romanesque collegiate church. Several beautiful museums are worth a visit in Soignies, all the more justified as the surroundings are full of places of interest. The city is also known for its Blue Stone, also called "small granite" and extracted from the various quarries surrounding the city. Thanks to its Blue Stone Center, Soignies has acquired an international reputation.
