The Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure site, which includes Boussu-lez-Walfcourt, Cerfontaine, Froidchapelle, among others, has more kilometres of coastline than the Belgian coast: 70 km! With 1,800 hectares, these are - by far! - the largest lakes in Wallonia. Designed in the 1970s for technical needs - maintaining the level of the Sambre and producing electricity - the dams were first of all a place for relaxation and water sports for the inhabitants of the Namur and Charleroi regions.Above all, the site is aimed (from a tourist point of view) at non-residents who enjoy barbecues with friends and youth movements eager for space. The development of a complete tourist resort has enabled us to move from day tourism to a holiday tourism and from a seasonal activity to a "year-round" destination, where there are more and more activities (nature, recreational and relaxation, sports), accommodation possibilities, restaurants... Several holiday villages are open all year round and have very good attendance rates, even in winter. A hotel residence will soon complete the holiday offer. The Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure are a real alternative, still (too) little known compared to the Ardennes "standards". They offer the possibility of spending a stay (a weekend, but why not more!) in the middle of nature, by the water. The range of leisure activities on offer there is extremely comprehensive. In addition to the various water sports; kayaking and stand up paddle, jet-skiing and water-skiing, sailing and ski-lift, you can go hiking (numerous marked trails including a tour of the Lakes), cycling, mountain biking, paddling at the Aquacentre, enjoy an accrobranches and zip lines, take the Red Crocodile (amphibious vehicle), visit the Plate-Taille dam, play laser-game, play aqua-golf, have a drink or a meal on the terrace.... or simply do nothing and enjoy the beaches sheltered from the wind. For further information: www.visitpaysdeslacs.be and www.lepaysdeslacs.be
