Return of wealthy emigrants to the Americas, prosperous agriculture, it was in the 19th century that Navia experienced its heyday, after having had to fight long against pirate attacks. Today, this town of 8,500 inhabitants lives from fishing and deserves a visit for its historical heritage. Located at the mouth of the river of the same name, it is the starting point for discovering natural sites of great beauty. The area was heavily occupied during the Iron Age, and by the Romans, of whom many remains remain here, the castros. Pilgrims also left their mark on the region by establishing places of worship.
