Viveiro is a good place to stop, as the medieval city is quite interesting. Your walk through the old streets will lead you to the Plaza Mayor, lined with elegant glass facades. A little further up, two churches: Santa María del Campo, Romanesque, and San Francisco, Gothic. The Rapa das Bestas is held in Viveiro on the first Sunday of July, a tradition in which men gather semi-wild horses from the mountains in the curro to cut their hair. The city also has two large beaches: Area Beach, 4.5 km north of the town, and Covas Beach, 2 km west of Viveiro. Further on, 7 km west of Viveiro, don't miss the beautiful wild beach of San Román, lined with pine and eucalyptus trees. From the beach, you can see Coelleira Island in the distance.
