Marmagne has on its territory one of the historical and touristic jewels of the region, the Fontenay Abbey, founded in 1118 by the Cistercian monks and classified as a world heritage site by Unesco. Marmagne is nestled in a valley and bordering the valley of the Brenne. The 12th-13th century church was remodeled in the 17th and last century. After the Revolution, it became the Temple of Reason for ten years. Admire the pretty Romanesque bell tower covered with a slate spire and the astonishing exterior staircase
