Having a snowball fight or snowboarding in Hawaii? It's possible at Mauna Kea, but only in winter... Mauna Kea actually means "white mountain" in Hawaiian, as it is sometimes covered with snow in winter. However, temperatures are freezing all year round at its summit because of its 4,205 m altitude. And if we measure its height from its underwater base, it is even the highest mountain in the world since it measures 10,230 m. Everest, with its 8,840 m of altitude, is largely exceeded, which makes it the ideal place to observe the stars or admire a sunset.
