Miles of beautiful beaches stretch from Waimea to the legendary Sunset Beach, the beach that has inspired surf posters and clothing for over 50 years. There is not really a town or even a city center worthy of the name, but along the road, small businesses (snack bars, surf stores) have been set up. A protected walkway, parallel to the Kamehameha Highway, connects Waimea and Sunset Beach; it is very nice for cyclists and runners because it offers a beautiful view of the whole coast. The spot is ideal for watching the sunset over the sea, or for lunch while admiring the prowess of the brave surfers.
