Coolangatta is the first large city of the Gold Coast, located between New South Wales and Queensland. Located in the southern suburbs of the Gold Coast, it is 30 km from Surfers Paradise, 100 km from Brisbane, and has about 6,000 inhabitants. The Gold Coast airport is located in Coolangatta, gateway to this small tropical paradise. It is a pleasant city to meet people, to party and to catch some waves on the nearby beaches, like the one of Kirra in the north: one appreciates the extent of the large sandy beaches. The place is however quieter and less festive than Surfers Paradise.
