Barbadelo is the largest parish in the municipality of Sarria, with some 150 inhabitants, and is probably the best known. It was designated in the 12th century as a stage on the Way of St. James in the Codex Calixtinus, a manuscript that contains a large collection of liturgical texts and, among other things, sets out the basics of the pilgrimage and its recommended stages. Today, the village is only a minor stopover and has lost its former glory. However, you should not miss the Romanesque church of Santiago. Admire its beautiful facade, if you can't visit the interior, which is not particularly interesting anyway.
