Located near the bridge over the Miño River, the village of Portomarín was engulfed during the construction of the Belesar dam. However, the church of San Nicolás, rebuilt stone by stone in the new village, on the heights of the nearby hill, provides a very pleasant stopover. In the same square, you will note the pazo of General Paredes, the current seat of the town hall. To satisfy yourself, you will opt for the local speciality, eels, to be accompanied by a local wine. An almond tart and the local digestive, the aguardiente, and you will be ready! You should know that this digestif gives rise to a highly reputed feast every Easter Sunday.
