About ten kilometres south-west of Lastres, this commune of 1,200 inhabitants seems to be frozen in time. It preserves a great architectural variety, as evidenced by the Renaissance Casa Covián; the Alvarez de Colunga Palace, built in the seventeenth century in Baroque style; the Casa de los Pablos, a Modernist building dating from 1910; the Casona de Indiano, of colonial influence; and the Estrada Palace, from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Pilgrims should note that the Camino del Norte runs through the municipality. Between the sea and the mountains, the surrounding area also offers pleasant walks in the middle of nature.
