Near the village of Gortyne, this place is a place of pilgrimage. The Cretans come here to honor the tombs of the ten martyrs who died for Christianity around 250. The small church located below the village, which was dedicated to them, dates from the 6th century... The icons it contains depict the execution of the martyrs. The white stone on which the massacre would have taken place is also preserved there. Near the village, you can also visit the Zacharioudakis winery to discover much less austere pleasures, but just as sacred! Wine tastings in perspective (to be consumed with moderation).
