Paksong is a town nestled at an altitude of 1,200 meters on the road to the remote province of Sekong. It is the gateway to the Boloven Plateau, lined with plantations. The local market is of some interest. Ethnic minorities settled here during the Vietnam war, to escape the bombings on the Ho Chi Minh trail. There are notably Katu, Tahoy, Ngai and Alak villages that live a traditional way of life. The balance of these communities is fragile: it is essential to respect their daily life if you decide to go and meet them. Ecotourism circuits are proposed to visit these villages.
