This archaeological site is located 8 km northeast of Cajamarca and is not a place in itself, one comes only to explore this pre-Inca cemetery dug in the volcanic rock. The site has kept its mystery, planted with long grass. One can approach only at a certain distance. These strange excavations and niches, probably burials, testify to the ancient Cajamarca culture. Archaeologists estimate its period of use from 50 BC to 500, a little before and during the Moche culture. Not to be confused with the small town of Otuzco located in the region of La Libertad, in the Andean foothills of Trujillo.
