This great Maya regional capital of the Classic is located in the north of the Petén, between Tikal and Calakmul, Mexico. It was the seat of the dynasty of the Bat. It consists of a monumental epicenter of 35 hectares, a residential zone of 175 hectares with some 600 structures, as well as more than 80 steles and sculpted altars testifying to a dazzling growth.Summarized since its discovery in 1922, Naachtún is the object of an international and multidisciplinary research project since 2010.
