Divjaka/Divjakë (pronounced "diviaka" or "diviakeu") has a population of around 8,000. It is the capital of the municipality of Divjaka (32,000 inhabitants). The town lies 32 km south of Kavaja, 45 km north of Fier, 54 km south of Durrës(via Kavaja), 64 km west of Elbasan and 67 km northwest of Berat. Minibus connections to all five towns. Situated on the Myzeqeja plain, 5 km from the shore, Divjaka is home to a large Aromanian minority. Although the town has little charm, it lies right next to the beautiful Karavasta lagoon, an ornithological reserve within the Divjaka-Karavasta national park.
