Ardenica/Ardenicë (pronounced "ardenitsa"/"ardenitseu") has around 200 inhabitants and is part of the municipality of Kolonja/Kolonjë (population 5,500). The village lies 12 km northeast of Fier (minibus connections). The vast Myzeqa plain (1,350 km2) ends here at the foot of the Ardenica hill. The highest peak in the region at 237 m, it is home to Albania's last remaining Orthodox monastery, famous for hosting Skanderbeg's wedding in 1451. Below, the village of Ardenica and the dynamic farming town of Kolonja boast several restaurants and two hotels.
