Not a minute to lose, continue on your way to the seaside resort of Ardmore (population just under 500), a highly symbolic place for Ireland, since St Declan founded the first monastery here, before the arrival of the famous St Patrick. The ruins of St Declan's Church and a12th-century round tower stand on the site of the original monastery. Otherwise, Ardmore's beaches are magnificent and ideal for lazing around.
