Day 1: First day in Cork

Steps: Cork, Ardmore

Arrival in Cork. Pick up your rental car. Strolling down St Patrick's Street or through the aisles of the History Museum, you'll relive the highlights of the city's history, from the Viking conquests to the War of the Two-Roses and the last sailing of the Titanic before it sank. At the end of the day, drive toArdmore Bay and settle in for the night at a lovely address set in an exceptional seaside setting.

Day 2: In south-east Ireland

Steps: Waterford, Cashel, Dungarvan

Places to visit: Dungarvan Castle (on guided tour); Waterford Crystal, one of Europe's most famous crystal works, founded in 1783; the interactive Waterford Treasures Museum and its Viking artefacts; the medieval remains of the Rock of Cashel...

In fine weather: a fishing session; a sailing trip at sea or a hike.
Settle in for a night in Thomastown, a charming estate organized around a magnificent Georgian mansion, a summer lodge and former stables. The hotel also houses a beautiful spa and an equestrian stud farm.

Day 3: Medieval town of Kilkenny

Steps: Kilkenny, Wicklow

In the morning, discover Kilkenny, a medieval city with a rich history. Don't miss its castle, gardens and Butler Art Gallery. Then on to County Wicklow, nicknamed "the gardens of Ireland", a region where it's good to get away from it all. As soon as the weather is fine, many footpaths open up (you can trek through the Maccredin Woods) or go horse-riding. Afterwards, you can spend the night in an elegant Victorian manor house.

Day 4: On the road to Dublin

Steps: Enniskerry, Glendalough

On the road to the capital, a first stop at the monastic site of Glendalough. An extended stop at the Ballada lakes and nature park. Finally, a lovely break at Powerscourt Manor and Gardens.

Day 5: Last day in clover country

Steps: Dublin

Visit Dublin with or without a guide. Don't miss: the Anglican churches of Christ Church and Saint Patrick, the old quarter of Temple Bar, a good frothy pub crawl. Don't forget to admire the library of Trinity College, founded in 1592 by ElizabethI. Then it's time to head for the airport.
