For a day or a stay, it is a very well known site of the Bulgarians who come from Sofia, Plovdiv and elsewhere to put themselves in the green, but rather ignored by the foreign tourists. The village of Trigrad is located in the municipality of Devin and the district of Smoljan. The site is home to the cave of the same name, but also the Jagodina cave. Fairy-tale gorges lead from one to the other. According to mythology, it is through these caves that Orpheus would have gone down to the Underworld to bring Eurydice back to the living. Trigrad is a peaceful mountain village with clean air and an unspoiled environment. The families have renovated the houses into guest houses and welcome tourists all year round and especially in summer who come to discover the cave, but especially to hike in the mountain. Among the most popular hikes, there is the one that connects the vertiginous and legendary site of the Eye of the Eagle. It is possible to bivouac in a refuge or in a tent. There is also a ranch nearby that offers horseback riding. A really nice site where you can recharge your batteries in contact with a welcoming mountain population. The local gastronomy will participate in the pleasures of your stay with the best papatchik of the Rhodopes or almost, and trouts of the river. You can also enjoy the local cold cuts and cheeses. Your hosts prepare grilled meats and wood-fired breads, all in the vicinity of spectacular sites from geological times. It is in these mountains that you are offered safaris in 4 × 4 to see bears. Not very eco-friendly though.
