Capdepera (2,000 inhabitants), the easternmost municipality on the island, is known for its historical heritage and basketry (especially baskets made from palm leaves). When King Jaume I reconquered Mallorca and was about to take Minorca back from the Moors, he used an intimidating ploy: in 1231, from the Cape of La Pera, he had 300 braziers lit, giving the illusion of a gigantic army. The Moors capitulated immediately. Here you can visit the castle in particular, while golfers can practice their swing on the spectacular 18-hole course designed by Dan Maples.
