Between Zagreb and Rijeka, Ogulin is a charming medieval and Renaissance town nestled at the foot of Mount Klek (1,182 metres), in a valley where two rivers flow, the Dobra and the Mrežnica. The presence of the city is attested since the 15th century, when the Frankopan castle built in the heart of the historic centre functioned as a protective fortress. Today, it is home to the Ogulin Storytelling Festival, which attracts young and old alike. Close to the Plitvice Lakes National Park, Ogulin is a pleasant stopover to enjoy the many outdoor activities, such as rafting, canoeing on the Mrežnica River and Lake Sabljaci, trekking, mountain hiking, horseback riding and relaxation in the city (cafés, bars-restaurants).
