From the 19th century onwards, its geographical position on the coast and its pleasant climate gave life to a lush Mediterranean flora as well as to early seaside tourism. The most beautiful aristocratic villas of the coast are to be found here. Don't miss the Frapart villa, with its pink marble from Italy and a part of the park. Unfortunately, it cannot be visited! On the other hand, the coastal path gives access to quiet coves, where the water is much cleaner than on the beaches of Opatija. Facing the Adriatic Sea, the city also rises up to 500 m above sea level. On the heights, the panorama of the riviera, the view of the Gulf of Kvarner and its islands are worth the walk.
