City of more than 152 000 inhabitants (720 000 for the agglomeration Nijmegen Arnhem), it was largely destroyed during the Second World War. Only a few pre-war houses remain. The city lives to the rhythm of the shopping frenzy that has taken over its center. Indeed, it is one of the most popular places in the country for shopping. The Gothic church of St. Eusebius, which dominates the Kerkplein square, is well worth a visit.
