For centuries, Utrecht was a religious center of the first order. It was declared a bishopric and once had about 40 churches that signaled it to pilgrims from afar. This is no longer the case today, as a large number of these buildings have disappeared, mainly as a result of natural disasters, but also due to a lack of resources. Fourth city of the country with 350 000 inhabitants, it is a dynamic university city and provincial capital. The old center, very lively and animated, is superb. The cafés installed in the shade, below the Oudegracht and Nieuwegracht, give Utrecht a very Latin air
