Otterlo, on the edge of the Hoge Veluwe National Park, is a small village in the province of Gelderland with no other interest than being located right next to the famous Kröller-Müller museum. This village is actually part of the municipality of Ede. In the Netherlands, villages are grouped together and there are few mayors. The name Otterlo comes from otter which means otter while loo means wood. The spelling Otterloo is often used. The city was rather spared during the Second World War and served as a refuge for many Jews. In 1945 Otterlo was the scene of a bloody battle between German soldiers and the Allies
