Friedberg is located on the Romantic Route in Bavaria. With a little over 29,000 inhabitants, the city dates back to the Middle Ages. It was founded by Duke Ludwig II in 1264. Its square, the Marienplatz, has in its centre a Marian column, that is to say a column dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
