Lelystad is the "prefecture" of the young province of Flevoland. It is named after the engineer Cornelius Lely, who was responsible for the damming of the river. To the east of the city, the polders are used for vegetable cultivation and nurseries. With more than 77,000 inhabitants, this new city also relieves the overcrowded Amsterdam. Not to be missed, its futuristic train station and the replica of the famous ship Batavia. It is also here that shopping fans will redo their wardrobe at the Bataviastad outlet. The focus is on water and water activities. Lelystad and Almere, its sister city, are cities of the future
