Biddinghuizen is a new city. Its birth is the result of the creation of the polder Oostelijk Flevoland in the province Flevoland. The village was founded in 1963 and takes its name from a former village also named Biddinghuizen. The first inhabitants, the Heijmink family, moved in on October 10th 1963. It is a new town whose center is formed by 3 elementary school, a sports hall, a religious center. This village, which is not very interesting from a tourist point of view, becomes the cultural center of the country during the famous Lowlands festival which is held there every year in August. It features music, theater and various shows.
